CLOVER -- Helen McCarter Cook, 94, widow of the late Thomas Grier (Jack) Cook, died, Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, S.C.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at Allison Creek Presbyterian Church in York, S.C., with the Rev. Dr. Guy H. Smith and the Rev. Sam McGregor officiating.
Mrs. Cook was born Oct. 30, 1914 in the Bethany Community of Clover, S.C., and was a daughter of the late William Mack and Mary Barrett McCarter. She was preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters. She was a member of the Allison Creek Presbyterian Church, where she served for many years as church pianist. She was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors are her daughter, Elizabeth (Betsy) Smith and her husband, Rev. Dr. Guy H. Smith Jr., of Clover; son, Tommy Cook and his wife, Kenda Price Cook, of Clover; grandchildren, Guy H. (Chip) Smith III and his wife, Wendy, of Simpsonville, S.C.; Sharon Smith of Greenwood, S.C., Kara C. Turner and her husband, Michael, of Inman, S.C., Tony Cook of Clover, S.C.; and great-grandchildren, Rob and Jenny Smith of Simpsonville, S.C.
The family will receive friends in the Church Family Life Center following the service.
