ROCK HILL -- David Nelson Vance, 71, of 1225 Dunlap Roddey Road, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at his residence.
A native of Blunt County, Tenn., Mr. Vance was born Aug. 24, 1937, a son of the late James H. and Effie Moles Vance. He was retired from Engineering, a member of Second Baptist Church and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Vance.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Lambert Vance; one son, Jeff Vance of Rock Hill; one granddaughter, Jaidan Vance of Rock Hill; sisters, Nellie, Margaret, Louise, Fae and Nita; brothers, Ernest, Roy and Troy.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 18, 2008, at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home.

A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mr. Vance will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road, with the Reverend Robert Porterfield officiating.
