ROCK HILL -- Thomas M. Sanders, 84, of 629 Tomahawk Ridge, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at Whitesell Funeral Home, with Bishop Benjamin Gleason officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park.
A native of Rock Hill, he is the son of the late John and Arzada Brown Sanders and the husband of the late Vergie Sanders. He was a retired painter and a WW II Army veteran enlisting at age 16 and serving overseas for almost five years. He was a member of the V.F.W. and very active in the Rock Hill Senior Citizens. He was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He is survived by three sons, Thomas C. "Butch" Sanders, Randolph E. Sanders and Charles R. Sanders; a daughter, Norma Jean Usher; a brother, Fred Sanders; three sisters, Vivian Lowder, Roberta Honeycutt and Mohavie Bryson; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Willie Mack Sanders.
