ROCK HILL -- Mr. Carol William Phillips, 79, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2008, at his home.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2008, at Park Baptist Church, with the Rev. Randy Hatcher officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road.
A native of Chester, Mr. Phillips was a son of the late Hope Phillips and the late Louise Bell Phillips. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a retiree of Celanese, with over 20 years of service. He was a member of Park Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Waldrop, and his brother, Donald Phillips.
Surviving are his wife, Juanita Childress Phillips; his son, Carol William "Bill" Phillips Jr. of Hampton, Va.; his daughters, Janis Barnette and her husband, Rusty, and Sandy Phillips and her husband, Steve, all of Rock Hill and Sherrie Cockram and her husband, Mike, of York; his son-in-law, Lindsay Waldrop of Rock Hill; his brother, Gene Phillips of Lakewood, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 3 to 4:30 p.m. today at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road in Rock Hill, and other times at the home.
