ROCK HILL -- Mr. Julius Edison "Ed" Sharpe, 63, 1403 Ebinport Road, passed away Sunday Dec. 21, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 27, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, with the Revs. Louis J. Roberts and Gerald Bennett officiating.
A native of Newberry, S.C., Mr Sharpe was a son of the late Julius Curtis Sharpe and the late Loma Lee Ashley Sharpe. He was a retired professional commercial truck driver and taught classes on hazardous material. He was a former police officer for the city of Rock Hill and was one of the first graduates of the S.C. Police Academy. Mr. Sharpe was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of Masonic Corinthian Lodge #416 in Newport and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his stepson, Michael Grant.
Mr. Sharpe is survived by his wife, Patricia G. Grant Sharpe of the home: son, MGSGT Thomas Curtis Sharpe of the Marine Corp and his wife, Angela of Quantico, Va.; stepson, William Russell Grant and his wife, Patricia of Fort Mill, S.C.; stepdaughter, Robin Grant Wagoner and her husband, Christopher L. Wagoner Sr. of Rock Hill; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Blanche Chronister of Rockingham, N.C., and Felder Richard and Deanna Sharpe of Chester, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Kyle Etters, Christopher L. Wagoner Jr., Matthew Wagoner, Kelly Grant, Curtis Sharpe, Jessica Sharpe and Heather Sharpe.

Burial with full military honors will be at Unity Cemetery in Fort Mill.
The family will receive friends, from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 26, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel and at other times at the home.
