DUE WEST, S.C. -- Charlotte F. Hawthorne, 90, resident of Carlisle Nursing Center, Covenant Way, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at Carlisle Nursing Center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 26, at Greenville Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Jonathan Bowling and Dr. George Wilson officiating. The burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Born in Abbeville County, S.C., July 11, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Robert Weston and Mamie Bowie Hawthorne.
Miss Charlotte was a graduate of Spartanburg School of Nursing and was a World War II Army veteran having served as and Army Nurse. She retired as a registered nurse from York General Hospital in Rock Hill, S.C., after many years of service. She was a loyal member of Greenville Presbyterian Church. Miss Charlotte will be remembered as a loving sister and aunt and will be sorely missed by her family and many friends.

Miss Charlotte is survived by two sisters-in-law, Cornelia Hawthorne of Lyman, S.C., and Doris Hawthorne of Due West; a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, John, Irvin, Robert, Edgar, Chester and Charlie Hawthorne; and sisters, Ellen Hawthorne and Irene H. Drake.
The body is at the Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before services. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
