CHARLOTTE -- Our beloved mother, Mary Susan Norris Parnell, passed away peacefully with us (her daughter and son) holding her hands at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 1, 2009, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
Mother was the daughter of Mary Susan Dilling and Robert Brown Norris Jr. She was born in Presbyterian Hospital on June 15, 1926 and lived in Charlotte her entire life. She graduated from Central High School, attended Queens College and graduated from Greensboro College. She was an art teacher at Cochrane Junior High for many years.
Mother met Daddy through a blind date at a baseball game. He became the love of her life and they were married 51 years before his passing in October 1999. We feel blessed to have had wonderful, loving parents with a strong faith in the Lord. She was a member of Third Presbyterian Church, having served as a teacher, choir member, youth group chaperone, circle chair and Presbyterian Women president, receiving the honor of Life Membership.
In addition to her parents, Mother was predeceased by her husband, James William (Bill) Parnell Jr.; son, James William (Bill) Parnell III; and daughter, Jenny Lynn Parnell.
