Mr. Aubrey Brice Dixon, 90, of Lake Wylie died Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, in Charlotte, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law.
The eldest son of the late Foy and Lula Therrell Dickson, Aubrey was born April 29, 1919, in Indian Land. Mr. Dixon graduated from Indian Land High School and went on to serve his country during World War II as a member of the U.S. Army.
Aubrey served as the Regional Director for the International Union of Operating Engineers ( IUOE ) for 52 years representing the working class men and women. He also was a member of the Oasis Shrine International.
Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Hice Dixon; his second wife, Patricia Brigham Dixon; and his brothers, F.W. Dickson Jr. and John Emmett Dickson.
Survivors include his children, Charles W. (Sharon ) Dixon of Charlotte, (George) Sutton of Hemingway, S.C., and Sue McFadden of Cartersville, Ga.; grandchildren, Mary Beth McFadden, Troy McFadden, Robin Altman, Aubrey McFadden, Paula Snow, Sally Coker and Mary Adale Tomlinson. Also surviving are his nine great-grandchildren and a multitude of cherished friends.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1 at Mr. Dixon's residence.
