A 29-year-old Fort Mill man was taken to a Charlotte hospital Thursday after what police called an unintentional self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
The man was part of a group involved in an earlier robbery in Lancaster County, in which at least one member of the group was charged, authorities said.
Deputies arrived about 12:30 a.m. at a home on Hensley Road to find Larry Joe Smith slumped in the back seat of a car, according to a York County Sheriff's Office report.
A silver handgun was at his feet.
The robbery victim told police two men showed up at his rear sliding-glass door Wednesday and asked to come in, according to a Lancaster County Sheriff's Office report.
When the victim opened the door, one of the men walked in and punched him in the face.
Various items were taken from the home.
The victim did not require treatment, reports stated.
Medics took Smith to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte; his condition was not available Thursday.
Two people who had been in the car left on foot, said Lt. Mike Baker of the York County Sheriff's Office. One suspect was later arrested by the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office. The suspects ranged in age from 16 to 29, according to reports.
