A Clover family found the body of their missing teenage son deep in the woods on Friday afternoon -- about five days after officials believe he died in a motorcycle crash.
The Lamarr family was looking for 18-year-old Jacob Lamarr after they did not hear from him for days. His family said they had last seen him five days before his body was found.
The Clover family retraced the route he took to work and found his crashed motorcycle along Crowders Creek Road, just west of Gastonia, N.C.
North Carolina Trooper J.J. Letcavage said the teen was killed when his motorcycle crashed into the woods in Gaston County.
He had been wearing a helmet, but the impact of the crash tore it off. Letcavage said he thinks the accident happened July 25.
Lamarr stayed in Charlotte with a friend during the week and returned to Clover to stay with his family on the weekends. He worked at a restaurant in Gastonia.
Investigators said they believe he crashed last Sunday, but because the accident happened far from the road, no one found the body until his family decided to search for him.
