The Panthers weren't ready to announce anything yet, but it sounds like they're going the young/cheap route for a short-term replacement at DT.
Sources with knowledge of the situation said former Auburn DT T.J. Jackson was en route to Spartanburg Tuesday to take a physical and sign.
The 25-year-old Jackson, who has played in seven games the last three years with Atlanta and Kansas City, would likely sign tomorrow.
The Panthers worked out a load of DTs and DEs prior to camp, so he must have been near the top of the emergency list. Not a lot in his background to go on, but he's cheap.
For all the folks wishing for a "name" replacement, the wait continues.
If they sign him before Maake Kemoeatu's surgery, they'd have to cut another player. The candidates are plentiful.
