The Panthers got to the 75-man roster limit Tuesday by placing S Nate Salley on injured reserve. He's been bothered by knee problems lately, but seemed to be making some progress.
They'll likely try to reach an injury settlement with him later, so they can get out from under part of his $1.01 million salary.

If they can't settle, that's a high price to pay for someone who was expected to be no more than a backup and special teamer if healthy.
