The first day back in their "normal" routine brought a flurry of moves Monday for the Panthers.
Starting FS Charles Godfrey had surgery to repair a broken right hand. No word yet on his timetable.
So to fill in the roster they signed former Bengals and Saints S Kevin Kaesviharn. You might remember him as the guy who picked off Jake Delhomme to end the 2006 game in Cincinnati.
To make room for him, they released WR Jason Carter, who wasn't the same after tearing his ACL last year in the preseason. Great story, great guy, just wasn't making the same kinds of plays.
For the short term, they'll turn to Quinton Teal, and that's not the worst option, as he's made a lot of plays in camp.
On the health front, some LBs were back, others missing.
Thomas Davis and Landon Johnson were participating on a limited basis, but Jon Beason stayed inside to get treatment for his left MCL sprain.
That left Dan Connor with the ones, as expected.
RB Jonathan Stewart (Achilles) and G C.J. Davis (ankle) were held out, along with S Nate Salley (knee).
