The first-team defensive ends were Minnesota's Jared Allen and Indianapolis' Dwight Freeney, while the inside linebackers were San Francisco's Patrick Willis and Baltimore's Ray Lewis.
The honor gets Beason much closer to his actual standing in the league, as the NFC Pro Bowl team had him as a second alternate, behind picks Willis and Jonathan Vilma of New Orleans and first alternate London Fletcher of Washington, who got a lot of lifetime achievement votes.
