A few odds and ends as we breathlessly await the league's announcing dates and times on a cable network very few people actually receive:
-- I'm guessing the Panthers get a couple of prime time games. That Giants game looks good, as perhaps an Atlanta game. Maybe New England (which would be interesting if Peppers ends up there).

They're usually glad to get one a year, so anybody expecting multiples may well be disappointed.
As for me, I have very selfish wishes from the schedule makers:
1) Leave me at home for Thanksgiving weekend
2) As few cold-weather games in December as possible
3) Anything they could do that allows me to see Metallica in Charlotte on Oct. 18 and squeeze in a few ASU games would be appreciated.
-- Since I mentioned Peppers, he's very much a factor in yesterday's J.J. Jansen trade (and I will call him Jerry Jensen before it's over with).
As long as they're dragging that $16.683 million anchor on the cap, they're going to have to populate the bottom of the roster with minimum-wagers. Jansen will make $310,000 this year, and doesn't even toll against the cap now because only the top 51 numbers count this time of year.
If they could move Peppers, they'd have money to spend on Jason Kyle (and others). Until they do, they're bottom-feeding.
-- Stay tuned here at 7 p.m. We'll provide a quick commentary on the slate once it's announced.
