QB Jake Delhomme just rolled through, and said he fully expected WR Steve Smith (shoulder) to be available for the Sept. 13 regular season opener against Philadelphia.
"I do," Delhomme said. "I mean, we're a month and two days away. Yeah, I think he'll be there."

Delhomme said there's little doubt that Smith's all-out, every-practice style lends itself to such nicks, but said the day Smith no longer practices that way will be a sign of trouble.
He also expressed confidence in third-year WR Dwayne Jarrett as a guy who could step up and make big plays in Smith's absence.
There's no word yet on Smith's prognosis, though sources close to him said Monday night he's expected to miss the entire preseason.
