CHARLOTTE — Carolina Panthers linebacker Jon Beason was arrested Monday afternoon on assault charges, stemming from a Nov. 15 incident in a Charlotte strip club.
Beason has been under investigation for more than a week, but wasn’t taken in until Monday afternoon. He wasn’t jailed, and was released on a written promise to appear in court.
Beason was charged with a misdemeanor account of assault inflicting serious injury — aggressive physical force.
The incident occured after the Panthers win over the Atlanta Falcons.

“We were aware of the police department looking into the incident and have addressed it with Jon," Panthers general manager Marty Hurney said in a statement released by the team. "At this time there appear to be two different versions of what happened.”
