There will be tests today, but it looks like the news is good on RT Jeff Otah and LG Travelle Wharton. Both left the game with knee injuries, and Wharton didn’t return. But both players said afterward they were relieved that plays that looked bad weren’t worse.
Otah’s left knee was on ice, and he said he thought he just hyperextended it when he was hit from behind at the end of a running play. He limped off the field on his own and missed a few series, but was able to return.
Wharton came out in the second quarter following a field goal play, saying his right knee got hit from the side. He stood on the sidelines throughout the second half in case of emergency, but said he was optimistic the damage wasn’t severe.
Jeremy Bridges replaced Otah during his brief absence, while Geoff Hangartner finished the game for Wharton. Those two were the only reserves who dressed for the game, as they typically keep seven linemen active on Sundays.
