Hello, and welcome to the first entry on The Herald's Biz Buzz blog.
I'm Business Editor Jason Foster and I plan to use this space to spread the word about local business news and trends, but also to let you know about things I'm working on and get feedback from anyone who cares to send it.
You hear about "new media" or "new journalism," whatever you want to call it, being about a conversation between a media outlet and its audience. I agree wholeheartedly. Believe it or not, we love to hear from readers, whether it be tipping us off to a story or just giving us feedback about something you've read. Good or bad, I want to hear it.
If you visit this blog regularly, you can expect to find a mix of information. You might see a traditional news story. You might find links to other stories in other places. You might find some helpful tips on dealing with this rough economy. You might even find me asking for your help on localizing a national story. That's the beauty of this new media. It doesn't have to be any one thing.
My goal is to update the blog at least a couple times a day, so check back often. And please let me know if there's a business- or economy-related topic you'd like to see me look into or write about.
If you don't have time to stop by the blog, sign up to follow me on Twitter: www.twitter.com/HeraldBizBuzz.
Let's keep the conversation flowing. I look forward to hearing from you.
