WR Steve Smith talked extensively Thursday, his second day back from his two-week suspension. He said he didn't talk the day before because he felt like he should concentrate on his job, watching film and getting treatment.
It was a long and far-reaching interview, the gist of which was his concern or lack thereof about his public image. He said he was floored by the reception he got from his teammates, specifically CB Ken Lucas (the guy he punched).
Summing up their prior relationship, Smith said: "I thought he didn't like me and he thought I didn't like him."
Of whether he was working on his final chance with the Panthers, Smith said: "I'm not looking at it like that. I'm trying not to put myself in that predicament again."
