And amazingly, they lead 14-13 going into the fourth.
They actually scored a second offensive touchdown in a game for the first time this season, on DeAngelo Williams' 39-yard pop outside. That gave them a 14-10 lead, a rare event for these guys.
That was set up by an odd-ball third-down conversion that went off WR Dwayne Jarrett's helmet and into the hands of TE Jeff King.
But strange plays bit them as well
Former Panthers LS Jason Kyle forced a fumble with his backside, when PR Captain Munnerlyn ran into him.
But the Panthers defense continued to play stingy, allowing just a field goal to hang onto the slim lead.
WR Steve Smith left the field late in the period, holding his left ankle. He was hauled into the locker room on a cart. His return is questionable.
