Davis leads the team with 55 tackles, and has 1.5 sacks and an interception. The Ron Meeks defense is built around the weakside linebacker, and Davis has flourished there.
-- Also out Thursday was K Rhys Lloyd (ankle). RB Jonathan Stewart, LB Na'il Diggs and FB Brad Hoover returned to practice after being held out Wednesday.
-- Bucs return man Clifton Smith said Panthers CB Dante Wesley called to apologize for his vicious hit Sunday.
Wesley's suspended for the week, but Smith told pewterreport.com he accepted Wesley's claim that there was no malicious intent.
“He called me and apologized, which I appreciate,” said Smith. “He said he was just trying to make a play.”
