This is a different kind of city, and today should be a different kind of game.
We knew Saints RB Reggie Bush (broken fibula) was out, and the Saints are unsure enough about the status of backup Pierre Thomas that they activated DeShawn Wynn from the practice squad.
Not that they needed any motivation, but that should steer their game plan a certain direction later today.
"You look forward to a game like this," Panthers CB Captain Munnerlyn said. "You know they’re going to throw the ball, they’re going to come out flinging.
"It’s going to be a DB game, and that’s the kiind of game we like."
Be careful what you wish for Captain, and if one hits you in the hands, you better catch it.
-- Walking New Orleans on a Sunday morning is always an experience, not just because you're heading out as a good portion of them are heading in.
Strolling by the Mississippi River, cup of coffee and some beignets at Cafe du Monde, it's the kind of start of the day that's hard to ruin.
Not impossible, but hard.
Between the yuppies who carried their Starbucks in so they could soak up the experience without sacrificing their half-skim mocha-whatevers, or the last night's drunks who were hassling the staff, I was able to get out just in time.
To be honest, I'm not sure which of the two groups I was more offended by.
But walking Jackson Square, checking out the art, and an easy cruise back to the hotel, and the mind's right again.
We'll check in from the Superdome later. I brought binoculars, because they moved the press box to the rafters (so they could sell the old box for suites) in the first post-title move to wring every dollar possible out of that building.
