The Panthers finally found a guy who can long-snap (remember, we can't use the word snap-er here), trading an undisclosed 2011 draft choice to Green Bay for J.J. Jansen.
For me, it's a little too close to 1997 failed fifth-round experiment Jerry Jensen, who was neither an LB nor an LS.
At least this guy's just a specialist, with no illusions of playing defense.
I think whether he's here instead of or in addition to free agent Jason Kyle remains to be seen. If they were to suddenly come upon a large mass of cap room, I think Kyle's return is feasible. If they don't, Jansen might be the cheaper alternative.
