As expected, the Panthers promoted special teams assistant Jeff Rodgers Saturday, moving him up a chair after firing Danny Crossman.
“Jeff is an outstanding young coach and I am confident he will do an excellent job,” Panthers head coach John Fox said in a release sent out by the team.
Prior to this, Rodgers' biggest claim to fame was being Saints QB Drew Brees' high school center at Austin, Tex. Westlake High.
