The Carolina Panthers placed QB Jake Delhomme on injured reserve Thursday, after attempts to throw didn't go as well as he had hoped.
This was the decision they expected at the time of the injury, which they figured to be in the three to four week range.
With the Panthers out of playoff contention, there was no real point in bringing him back anyway.
We'll have more on this later today, when the Panthers announce the corresponding move.
(Update) They promoted rookie Hunter Cantwell from the practice squad to fill his roster spot, and signed RB Devin Moore (Wyoming) to the practice squad.
As for practice, RBs DeAngelo Williams and Tyrell Sutton were held out again, while RB Jonathan Stewart returned. CB Richard Marshall was limited.
