The Panthers are going to have some decisions to make, because they're perilously close to running out of linebackers.
Landon Johnson, who was replacing the IR'd Thomas Davis at WLB, was limping slowly through the locker room earlier today, with a large brace on his right knee. He has an MCL sprain (the CL of choice this year), and it's doubtful that he's going to be ready Sunday in New York.
Under ordinary circumstances, that would mean James Anderson would slide into that spot.
But SLB Na'il Diggs (ribs) is hurting as well. No one knows how sore he actually is, but coach John Fox said Friday it was similar to an earlier injury, which kept him out of the Dallas game.
That would mean second-year LB Dan Connor might be called on for strong-side duty.
That would leave Kelvin Smith, just called up from the practice squad, as the only healthy backup if Diggs is unable to play.
In short, they've got a mess on their hands, and may need to bring in some more bodies just to get them through the last six weeks.
