As we reported yesterday, the Sherrod Martin contract was finalized today. It won't be signed until Sunday, however.
That means they'll bring 81 guys to Spartanburg, and cut one of them once he gets there.

Here's hoping they don't give the poor devil the Merkerson treatment.
As regular readers here might recall, one of my absolute favorite camp stories came in 2001. That year, as they were scrambling for talent anywhere (hint, it didn't work), they signed LB Ron Merkerson out of the XFL.
Well, Ron didn't have a car in Charlotte, since the team picked him up at the airport upon signing, and would shuttle him from his hotel to the stadium when need be. So when it was time to report to camp, he didn't know what else to do.
“I got up early this morning, I made a couple of calls to see who was coming early, and I needed to get here a little earlier, so I grabbed a cab, jumped on the Greyhound and got here,” Merkerson said. “I don’t have a car out here like some guys — they got to ride down here in style.”
Merkerson had to shell out $16 for the one-way bus ticket from Charlotte to the 'burg.
Team officials sheepishly said if he had called, they would have arranged a ride to Wofford for him. They added that he didn’t have to ride the bus home after his short stay in camp.
