The Panthers continued the offseason fiddling portion of the personnel year, by signing FB Nehemiah Broughton to a future deal, which kicks in Feb. 27.
Broughton, who grew up in North Charleston and played at The Citadel, has been with Washington for parts of the last four seasons, spending 2007 on IR after tearing his ACL in May minicamps.
At 5-foot-11, 257 pounds, he's a solid blocking prospect. If nothing else, he'll keep some of the wear and tear off Brad Hoover, who was the only true fullback on the roster for most of 2008, after they let FB Billy Latsko go. Latsko ended up on San Diego's active roster, while Hoover ended up sore because there was no one else to take practice reps.
Broughton's the ninth guy they've signed this week, and more will probably trickle in the next few days.
