Baby Safari: Stories, songs and activities about animals for babies 35 months and younger will be at 4 p.m. today at the York County Library in Rock Hill. Call 803-981-5888 to register.


Teen games: A lounge for sixth- through 12th-graders with video and board games will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the York County Library in Rock Hill. No registration is required.


Presidential wannabe: Presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann, a Republican congresswoman from Minnesota, will speak at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the DiGiorgio Campus Center ballroom at Winthrop University. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.


Healthy heart: A heart screening for adults 40 and older will be from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill. Cost is $39.95 and includes cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, BMI, health risk assessment and EKG. Register at 877-228-3638.


Baseball: The Charlotte Knights play host to the Durham Bulls at 7:15 p.m. Friday at Knights Stadium in Fort Mill.


HIV testing: Catawba Care will participate in National HIV Testing Day by holding free HIV testing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at North Central Family Medical Center, 1131 Saluda St., Rock Hill. Catawba Care also offers testing from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday at its office, 500 Lakeshore Parkway, Rock Hill.


Celebrating independence: Red, White & Boom will kick off Independence Day celebrations at 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the Old Town Amphitheater on East Black Street in Rock Hill. Live music starts at 5:30 p.m. with fireworks at 10 p.m. There will be food, beverage and craft vendors, an ice cream-eating contest and children's activities. The event is free and will proceed rain or shine.
