A man is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old Rock Hill boy then paying the teen with clothes and an Apple laptop, officials say.
Kevin Harper, 37, of Florence has been charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor and participating in the prostitution of a minor, according to warrants. He was arrested Monday.
In January, Harper allegedly had sex with the teen in a black Nissan parked in the Creek’s Edge subdivision, off of Hands Mill Highway in York County, according to reports. He gave the boy a pair of jeans, underwear and a new Apple laptop computer for the purpose of payment, the warrant states.
In late March, the teen’s mother found e-mails on the laptop, the report states. The teen told his parents Harper had brought him the laptop.

The report does not say how the two met.
In the e-mails, Harper asks why the teen has not texted or contacted him in five weeks and then he told the boy he “liked him a lot,” according to the report. He also told the teen that he would stop being a nice guy because he was “scammed out of the laptop.”
The boy told his parents there had been no physical contact between him and Harper, the report states. No sexual activity was referred to in the e-mails.
But after an investigation, officials determined they had sex in January. Warrants were obtained on March 30 and served earlier this week.
Harper was released Tuesday on a $40,000 bond.
