Winners named in Rock Hill art contest

The Arts Council of York County announced winners of the Teachers's Choice Youth Art Month Exhibition during the show's opening reception Thursday at the Center for the Arts.

The exhibition featured selected work by Rock Hill school district art students. Middle and high school art work was juried by June Lambla. The exhibition will be on display until March 31 in all three Center for the Arts galleries, 121 E. Main St., Rock Hill.

Best in show winner was Kellie Hernandez of Northwestern High School. Other high school winners were, first-place high school sculpture, Matthew Ingersoll, Northwestern; first-place high school mixed media, Felicia Mitchell, Northwestern; first-place high school painting, Allison Davies, Northwestern; and first-place high school drawing, Amber Young, Northwestern.

The middle school winners were, first-place middle school mixed media, Kursten Bruton, Sullivan Middle School; first-place middle school painting, Davie Williams, Saluda Trail Middle School; and first-place middle school drawing, Rebecca Chopko, Castle Heights Middle School.
