Murray served as president of CIU from 2000 to 2007, when he was named chancellor. Prior to his leadership at CIU, he was executive director of The Evangelical Alliance Mission (TEAM) from 1994 to 2000. From 1983-1993, he was the general director of Bible Christian Union, a mission agency which merged with TEAM in 1994. Prior to that, he and his wife, Annette, were church planters in Italy, also with BCU, for 13 years. He is a graduate of Columbia International University and Trinity International University.
