A Rock Hill man died this morning around 2:30 a.m. after a single car wreck in Lancaster County off U.S. 521 south of Lancaster, police said.
Bertram Leonard Brown, 34, of 108 Copes Court, was killed after the 1996 Cadillac he was driving hit a railroad track and embankment, said Lance Cpl. Bryan McDougald of the S.C. Highway Patrol. No one else was in the car, McDougald said. Brown was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car, McDougald said.
Brown was heading east on McIlwain Road, which ends at a stop sign at U.S. 521, at a speed estimated at 65 MPH in a 50 MPH zone, McDougald said. The car went through the stop sign, crossed U.S. 521, and hit the railroad track, he said.
