IMSA points leader Jordan Taylor has been cleared to race this weekend after an emergency appendectomy while on vacation in Hawaii.
Wayne Taylor said his son woke up with a pain in his side and had his appendix removed Monday night. Kamui Kobayashi, part of the Wayne Taylor Racing team that won the Rolex 24 at Daytona, came to Long Beach to serve as a standby for Taylor.
Jordan Taylor was seen by IMSA on Friday morning, then practiced the car to see if he was comfortable in the Cadillac. Wayne Taylor said his son will race as scheduled Saturday and do his full stint with Renger van der Zande in the 100-minute race.
Sebastian Bourdais will race both IndyCar and IMSA events because Joey Hand has flu-like symptoms and can't run the sports car race. Bourdais is typically the third driver for the Chip Ganassi Racing entry in endurance events.
