Pier 51 Seafood Restaurant opens in Rock Hill

Pier 51 Seafood Restaurant, a family-owned business that serves seafood, steak and chicken and salad bar, had opened at 3921 Mount Gallant Road in Rock Hill between India Hook Road and the Ebenezer boat landing.

The owners are Demetrios Kakouras and Billy Tzioros, who have another location in Charlotte.

Rock Hill's Charlie Redfern takes helm of CPA association

The South Carolina Association of CPAs has appointed Charles "Charlie" Redfern III as president for 2009-2010. Under the leadership of Redfern, and with the help of SCACPA members, the association hopes to educate more South Carolinians than ever about managing their finances.

Small Business Council to host e-mail marketing seminar

The York County Regional Chamber's Small Business Council will host a lunch-and-learn seminar on e-mail marketing from noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 12 at the chamber office, 116 E. Main St., Rock Hill.

The speaker will be Jason Broadwater of Revenflo. The cost is $10, which includes lunch. Space is limited to 15.

Michael Bader joins Signature Event Group as executive chef

Michael Bader has joined Signature Event Group as executive chef. He oversees food and beverages for The Side Porch, a high-end catering company, and Picnic People Western Carolinas, an outdoor special events company specializing in corporate picnics and other casual corporate events.

Signature Event Group, with offices in Charlotte and Rock Hill, serves clients throughout the region. Signature Event Group is the exclusive caterer for Symphony Park at SouthPark.

Winthrop alumus named to Fayetteville State board

The University of North Carolina board of governors has elected Terence Murchison Sr. to serve on the board of trustees at Fayetteville State University. Murchison was sworn in as a member of the board Dec. 11.

Murchison is a graduate of FSU, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration. He earned his Master's in Business Administration from Winthrop University in Rock Hill. For more details, call 910-672-1474.

Higher ed executive director to speak at chamber luncheon

The York County Regional Chamber of Commerce's membership luncheon will be from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the City Club of Rock Hill, located on East Main Street.

This month's featured guest speaker will be Garrison Walters, executive director for the S.C. Commission on Higher Education.

Adult day center to host ribbon-cutting Tuesday

FORT MILL -- The Fort Mill/Tega Cay Adult Day Center, with the assistance of the York County Regional Chamber of Commerce, will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at its location at 105 Lestina Court, which is in Avery Lakes off Steele Street. A reception will immediately follow.
