Family Trust to have teen finance event
Family Trust will sponsor "Real Life ... Real Money," a youth financial education event for teens, Monday to Friday.
Teenagers are invited to visit any Family Trust office during the week or attend the evening event from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Family Trust office on Dave Lyle Boulevard. Participants will learn about online banking, security and identity theft prevention, budgeting, check writing, ATM and check card tips and credit cards.
Participants can open a checking and savings account and receive a free gift, check card register and coaching on how to manage their account. They will be entered to win one of three $100 cash prizes.

CEOs defend their high pay on Capitol Hill
WASHINGTON -- Three corporate executives called in for a shaming by Democratic lawmakers Friday defended raking in hundreds of millions of dollars despite contributing to the subprime mortgage crisis.
The CEOs testifying before the committee, Angelo Mozilo of Countrywide Financial; Stanley O'Neal, formerly of Merrill Lynch & Co; and Charles Prince, formerly of Citigroup; defended their pay as appropriate. Republicans on the committee generally agreed.
The hearing was the second held by Waxman on the issue of executive pay, which Forbes magazine said averaged $15.2 million for the CEOs in the largest 500 U.S. companies in 2006, an increase of 38 percent in one year.
