Lancaster EDC annual meeting Monday

LANCASTER -- The Lancaster County Economic Development Corp. will hold its annual meeting at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Carole Ray Dowling Center, 509 Hubbard Drive.

Williams named bank's market executive

First National Bank of the South has promoted Chris Williams to the newly-created position of senior vice president and York County market executive, as the bank expands in York County.

Williams has served as the vice president and city executive for First National's Rock Hill market for the past year. Williams has more than 18 years of lending experience and has a bachelor's degree in business management from Wingate University and an master's degree in business administration from Winthrop University.

The Spartanburg-based bank will open its 13th branch and York County market headquarters off S.C. 160 in Tega Cay later this year.

Party supplies store celebrates opening today

TEGA CAY -- Party Checklist will have a grand opening and ribbon-cutting at noon today at 1143 Stonecrest Blvd., Suite 103. It is located in front of the Tega Cay Wal-Mart.

The 5-month-old business sells party supplies, decorations and balloons. It can assist with party planning as well as special-order supplies for larger parties.

Derick Close elected chairman of SCMA

The South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance has elected Derick Close as chairman of the 2008-2009 board of directors.

Close is the president and CEO of Springs Creative Products in Rock Hill. He also is board chairman of the Huffman Corp., a leading machinery and engine-ready parts supplier to the aircraft engine and industrial power generation market. He serves on the boards of the Springs Co. of Lancaster and Scene Weaver Co. based in Columbia.

The SCMA is dedicated to the interests of manufacturers. It represents more than 200 manufacturing companies in South Carolina.

Clover chamber to have annual meeting Thursday

CLOVER -- The Greater Clover Chamber of Commerce will host its 47th annual meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Larne Building in downtown Clover.

Newly elected and continuing board members and officers will be recognized, as well as the 2008 Citizen and Business of the Year award recipients.
