Salon appreciation day Saturday at new site

Gloria Baxter, owner of Sensational Styles Barber and Hair Salon, has moved the salon to 808 Saluda St. in Rock Hill, across the street from the old location.

A customer appreciation day will be from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday featuring hot dogs, hamburgers and drawings for giveaways.

In addition to Baxter, the salon employs a barber and a stylist, Typhena Long and DeMario Gordon. Sandra Gordon will join the salon in September.

'Tween' shop opens at Birds of A Feather

FORT MILL -- Betwixt and Between is now open offering items for the 8- to 14-year-old in your life in Birds of a Feather at 1642 S.C. 160 West, suite 102, Fort Mill.

Owner Brenda Hallman of Rock Hill said her shop sells backpacks, purses, jewelry, journals, bedroom decor, pajamas and more fun items.

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.

Mattress store to hold Habitat fundraiser

Beauty Sleep Gallery Mattress, 2049 Celanese Road, Rock Hill, will hold a family fun day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday to raise money for Habitat for Humanity.

Food and refreshments will be sold. The event is free and open to the public.

Rock Hill restaurant plans ribbon-cutting

Yia Yia's Kitchen at 489 S. Herlong Ave., Suite 10, in Herlong Plaza, Rock Hill, will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate its grand opening at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Kelly Kakouras is the owner of the restaurant that offers "cookin' just like grandma's." Hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays. For more information, call Yia Yia's Kitchen at 366-0600.
