Control of the Waterford Golf Club in Rock Hill is now in the hands of a Toronto-based mortgage company.
Romspen Club Holdings LLC, owners of the course, submitted a $2.7 million bid to the York County foreclosure court Monday. But because Romspen already owned the $15.7 million lien on the course it only had to pay $125 in York County court costs to retain ownership.
Waterford, located along the Catawba River in the Waterford Business Park off Dave Lyle Boulevard, is the last of five Carolina Trail courses once owned by Jeff Silverstein to be sold at foreclosure.
Romspen also owns Birkdale, Highland Creek, The Divide and The Tradition golf clubs in the Charlotte area.

Romspen has hired Traditional Golf properties of Virginia to manage the former Carolina Trail courses.
Traditional Golf properties has made “substantial” improvements at the Charlotte clubs it manages and could make the same improvements at Waterford, company officials have said.
At the Charlotte courses, Romspen has said a “priority list” would address issues such as “deferred maintenance, irrigation, capital improvements, clubhouse needs, and customer service issues.”
