Chester will get a new Big Lots.

A news release Monday from the company said a new store at 1841 JA Cochran Bypass will open this winter. The almost 35,000-square-foot retail location will offer home products at discount prices. In the release, company CEO Bruce Thorn expressed excitement about plans to add a new store in Chester.

“Our team is scouting new store locations throughout the country to identify places where we can serve the local community, and we saw a great opportunity in Chester,” Thorn said.

Big Lots is based in Ohio. The company runs more than 1,400 stores in 47 states. Included are stores in Rock Hill and Lancaster.

The release states a grand opening will be held, but a date isn’t set. The event will include special offers.
