The state Department of Health and Environmental Control has rejected Piedmont Medical Center's application to build a 50-bed psychiatric center, according to Piedmont President and CEO Charlie Miller.
"DHEC has concluded that PMC’s current 20 bed psychiatric unit has experienced low patient utilization and has questioned the ability of its current operator, Reliant Health Care, to manage the proposed facility," Miller said in a written statement.
