HICKORY GROVE -- A 2-year-old girl was airlifted to a hospital Saturday after she darted into the road and was hit by a car, authorities said.
The toddler, who lives at 5126 Hickory Grove Road, was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, said Cpl. Bryan McDougald of the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Officials are not releasing the girl's name.
Around 6:50 p.m., Dorothy Pearce, 84, of 6040 Peachtree St. was traveling in a 1994 four-door Chrysler west along S.C. 211, about one-and-a-half-miles east of Hickory Grove, McDougald said.

The toddler was standing with an adult on the westbound shoulder, McDougald said.
"As the vehicle approached, the 2-year-old ran into the side of the vehicle," he said.
The child's condition was unknown Saturday night, McDougald said.
Pearce, who wore a seat belt, was not injured, McDougald said.
"No charges are pending, but the collision is still under investigation," McDougald said.
The speed limit for the area was 55 mph, he said. Pearce's estimated speed was 40 mph, he said.
