Chester motorcyclist dies from injuries in wreck

A Chester man died this week from injuries sustained while riding his motorcycle along S.C. 9 in Chester County, authorities said.

Gene Jolly, 62, of Chester died Wednesday, according to a Web site for the state Department of Public Safety.

Chester County Coroner Terry Tinker said information on the cause of death is pending.

Jolly and his wife, Vickia, were riding separate Harley-Davidson motorcycles around 4 p.m. Tuesday near Richburg when a tractor-trailer made a left turn in front of the couple, authorities said.

The Jollys slammed on their brakes. Gene Jolly was thrown from his motorcycle and was flown to Carolinas Medical Center with head injuries, officials said.

Vickia Jolly was able to control her motorcycle and did not fall, officials said.

The tractor-trailer was driven by Larry Izenhour of Granite Falls, N.C. The S.C. Highway Patrol has reported Izenhour failed to yield the right of way.
