Many area marching bands didn't have to travel far from home to compete last weekend.
Rock Hill and Northwestern high schools hosted 15 schools Saturday at the Olde English Festival of Bands competition at District Three Stadium.
Here's how local schools fared:

• Clover High School received the top mark in the competition, scoring 91.9 percent.
• South Pointe High School came in fifth place with a score of 81.025 percent.
• Andrew Jackson High School came in second of the Class A schools in the preliminary round with a score of 75.25 percent. Andrew Jackson outscored Great Falls, Lewisville, Chester and Indian Land high schools but missed qualifying for the finals.
As hosts, Rock Hill and Northwestern's bands didn't compete Saturday.
Also, the York Comprehensive High School band competed in the Roundtable Tournament of Bands at North Lincoln High School in Lincolnton, N.C. The Cougar Band took first place overall as grand champion.
