Holiday toy charity taking applications

Applications are available for Toys for Happiness, a holiday toy assistance program for ages birth to 14 years old.

The applications can be picked up at:

• ParentSmart at the Rock Hill Family Resource Center and the International Center, 217 Orange St., Rock Hill, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays; Spanish speaking volunteers will be available at the International Center;

• Parenting Partnerships, 37 Pinckney St., York, from 9:30 a.m. to noon Tuesdays;

• YMCA Charlotte Avenue branch, 402 Charlotte Ave., Rock Hill, from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 1.

Applicants must be the legal guardian and need to bring proof of income, a photo ID, Social Security card of themselves and either a Department of Social Services printout for the family that includes any children being signed up for assistance or Social Security card and birth certificate for any eligible child.

Volunteers also are needed to sort and pack toys. To volunteer, visit www.myspace.com/toysforhappiness or call 324-2735.

Toy donations can be dropped off at radio station WRHI-AM, 142 N. Confederate Ave., Rock Hill; the United Way of York County offices, 226 Northpark Drive, Suite 100, Rock Hill, and 23 E. Liberty St., York; and all Upper Palmetto YMCA locations in York County. Monetary donations can be mailed to the United Way of York County or made online at www.unitedwayofyc.org.
