Fort Lawn woman's been missing for 10 days

FORT LAWN -- An 18-year-old Fort Lawn woman has been missing for 10 days, leaving her 1-year-old daughter behind, Chester County authorities said.

Ivory Price of Fort Lawn was last seen when she left for class at York Technical College on Nov. 12 from her parents' home, where she lived with her daughter, Trinity, said Maj. James McNeil of the Chester County Sheriff's Office. McNeil said the family began worrying when she didn't return home that evening. A missing person report was filed Nov. 14.

McNeil said family members initially wondered if Price had gone to visit a man she befriended in Atlanta, but concern has grown because she hasn't called, left her cell phone behind and hasn't withdrawn any money from her bank account. He said authorities have looked for her through state missing persons records and the Internet. He said detectives don't expect foul play at this time, but they're not ruling anything out.

"We've done several different searches, and we're just not coming up with anything," McNeil said. "To leave behind a 1-year-old daughter is what concerns me."

Hoping for sighting

Jeffery Price, the woman's father, said his granddaughter hasn't eaten and keeps looking for her mother. He said the family hopes the Thanksgiving holiday will prompt his daughter to call home.

"I really don't know what happened," Jeffery Price said, adding Ivory Price has never run away before. "We're hoping someone sees her or something."

Jimmy Alexander, the family's pastor at Faith Christian Ministry, said Ivory Price, who was studying medical technology at York Tech, never showed up for her morning class Nov. 12.

"I don't care what happened. No one is angry," Alexander pleaded. "We just want to know that she's safe."

Price was last seen driving a white 1995 Mitsubishi Gallant with tinted windows with South Carolina license plate number 784-TXL. McNeil said the case will remain open and officers will continue searching for Price. Anyone with information on her location can call the Chester County Sheriff's Office at (803) 581-5131.
