Warrant issued after man shot in leg

A Rock Hill man was at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte on Sunday night after being shot in the left leg below the knee at about 2:25 a.m., according to Sgt. Robert Taylor of the Rock Hill Police Department.

Christopher Whitlock, described as in his late 20s, was in fair condition Sunday night, a nursing supervisor said. Police found him lying in the middle of Pebble Road off Saluda Street after they responded to calls about shots being fired.

Police on Sunday were seeking Whitlock's cousin, 26-year-old Rodney Dunham of Clarinda Street, on charges of assault and battery with intent to kill and possession of a firearm by someone prohibited from carrying a gun.

The pair apparently had been arguing, although police were uncertain about what. Police believe Whitlock was shot with a .40-caliber automatic handgun.

"It looks like it was at close range because he was bleeding profusely," Taylor said.

Cab company dispatch office robbed Sunday

Rock Hill's newest cab company, Carolina Cab Co., was robbed by a man carrying a handgun at about 4 p.m. Sunday, according to Rock Hill Police Sgt. Roderick Stinson.

A man with a handgun entered the company's headquarters at 232 S. Cherry Road, across from Rock Hill School District Three Stadium and took an undetermined amount of cash, police said.

A canine unit was sent to the scene, but the man, who was wearing jeans and a T-shirt, is believed to have fled in a white vehicle.
