Graham to campaign for McCain in Rock Hill
Republican presidential candidate John McCain will visit York County next week for a town hall meeting. But first, he'll send a Senate colleague to speak on his behalf.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., will meet with voters at the Eat Well Family Restaurant on Cherry Road at 9:15 a.m. Saturday. Graham has endorsed McCain and is among his closest allies in the Senate.
At 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, McCain will take questions from voters at T-Bones On the Lake restaurant on S.C. 49. Both events are open to the public.
McCain hopes to carry momentum into South Carolina after winning the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday. He faces opposition from former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who is expected to earn support from evangelicals, who represent a strong constituency in the Palmetto State.
Fort Mill students chosen for national honor band
Three Fort Mill high school students recently were tapped for the Honor Band of America, which is sponsored by Bands of America and Music for All.
Nation Ford High School sophomores Dottie Grantham, who plays the flute, and Claire Sibley, who plays French horn, were selected along with Fort Mill High School senior Brandon Armstrong, a clarinet player.
The band is comprised of students from across the nation, from large and small programs.
The Honor Band of America will perform in February during the National Concert Band Festival at Butler University in Indianapolis.
