Local hunting series begins 13-week run on cable TV

A local hunting series will debut at 9:30 p.m. Friday for Comporium customers on cable Channel 14.

"A Hunter's Story," documents Rock Hill hunter David Findley as he and other hunters pursue game around the nation. The 13-week series, airing Fridays at 9:30 p.m., gives hunting tips, game recipes and weapons use and safety suggestions.

In its first episode, the show follows retired U.S. Army Col. Vic Correa through Texas on his first turkey hunt. Correa, who nearly lost his life at the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001, is an experienced deer and hog hunter. Under the guidance of Findley, Correa tries his luck at turkey hunting.

Does Correa get the turkey? You'll have to tune in to see, Findley said.

Findley, a professional hunter, has been documenting his hunting expeditions for more than 15 years, doing all the filming himself.

Findley said he took a chance and pursued his passion.

He secured sponsors and brought his edited footage to CN2, Comporium's local news operation.

"He showed us he was able to put the show together," said Rob Cooper, CN2 sales and promotion representative. "It's a good show, a quality show."

Findley's hunting series is not the first to get its start on CN2, Cooper said. "Huntin' the World... Southern Style" premiered locally. Now it airs on the Outdoor Channel.

"The idea is to start small and end big," Cooper said.
